Soil Remediation Services, Residential Estate
Mercer Island, Washington

In 2000, a remediation contractor retained G-Logics to conduct soil remediation of petroleum
contaminated soil discovered during construction at a private estate. A construction crane,
formerly located on the east side of the property, apparently contaminated the soil by leaking hydraulic oil. Additionally, this hydraulic oil caused localized impacts to surfacewater and aggregate

construction materials. G-Logics provided remediation oversight, observation, and documentation
to the contractor for the performed exploration and
remediation.

The contractor removed and disposed of the
petroleum-affected aggregate, ponded water, and
soil under the direction of G-Logics. The
contractor backfilled the excavated area with gravel
before surfacing with pavement. Results of this
cleanup indicated that soil remaining on-site did not contain petroleum hydrocarbons at concentrations

exceeding the current cleanup levels and that groundwater was not contaminated. Based on the findings of the exploration and remediation services, G-Logics concluded that the site had been adequately remediated with regard to the Model Toxics Control Act and that a "No Further Action" request could be submitted to the Washington State Department of Ecology.
